Clarkston's Ashley Smokoska in action at Alpine Valley on Jan. 25. White Lake -- The Clarkston girls and Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice boys raced to victory at the 20th annual Don Thomas Junior Varsity Cup held Jan. 25 at Alpine Valley Ski Resort. The Clarkston team of Ashley Smokoska, Liz Abel, Lauren Horner, and Natalie Stevenson dominated the girls race with 17 points. Rochester Adams was second with 46 points and Pontiac Notre Dame Prep third with 65. Smokoska (54.79), Abel (54.99), and Horner (55.36) took the top three individual spots, while Stevenson (58.12) finished a strong 11th. The Brother Rice Orange team of Kevin Clark, Andrew Hess, Anthony Cornacchini, R.J. Williams, Clune Walsh, Michael Haddad, Tim Bazil, and Wesley Janks won the boys race with 41.5 points. Rochester was second with 54 points. The Brighton Black team was third with 56 points. Rochester Adam's Peter Brunette was first individually in the boys race at 51.00. Clark was second in 51.66.
